TimesofIndia: To improve your online social skills, you must start with yourself. It is very good to be sociable. Just because you have accounts in all major social networking sites, you don’t have to follow social atticates.
Be nice: There is no harm in being polite and nice to others online. Certain basics rules never change in life. Being nice is one of them. Always treat everyone the way you want to be treated. Use decent words and language in your status and comments. Try not to use abusive one. Do not try to be a person that you are not.
Listen to others: Ask people about themselves. People love to talk about themselves and what they’re interested in. Find common interests, and sympathize with their problems. Listen to your virtual friends even though they might not agree with you all the while. Be tolerant of alternate views and opinions. If you think that an argument is not going anywhere, it’s better to keep quiet and close the topic instead of stretching it. It will not hurt you in the long run. Listen to the people commenting on your blog or commenting on your status update.
Don’t show-off: Always remember the difference between crass and class. Crass is all about talking and whispering and class is remain quiet. So, there’s no need to tweet about your visit to a hill station or a coffee-shop. Let others praise you for your talent. Don’t fish for compliments by being a bragger.
Don’t force people all the while to read your blogs or put comments. Remember that subtle behavior wins in the end.
