SP-BSP clash over quota bill, all-party meet called
New Delhi: With the dead end over quota in promotions for SC/STs dogging, Chairman of the Rajya Sabha on Monday referred to as Associate in Nursing all-party meet to debate the problem.
The all-party meet gains significance as BSP big wheel Mayawati has upped the ante and is pressurising the UPA government to pass the bill. Amid rumpus within the house over the problem, Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day.
Mayawati targeted the BJP over the problem and questioned its stand on the problem.
The bill that was 1st introduced throughout the Monsoon Session on Sept five has already seen each homes obtaining repeatedly noncontinuous within the Winter Session.
The BSP, that voted in favour of the govt. in Rajya Sabha to defeat the opposition motion against FDI, was assured by the ruling UPA that the quota bill would be passed, reports same. However, the SP seems determined to scuttle it.
Clearly, the bill is that the next attainable assessment for the govt. with the SP adamant on its opposition thereto. the govt. had secured a decisive finish on the problem of permitting fifty one FDI in retail.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath’s task is cut out because the government tries to win over the SP to come back on board for the 117th constitution change bill that seeks to amend to get rid of the term “inadequate representation” as mentioned in Article 16(4) to justify reservation in promotion and appointments.
Bahujan Samaj Party had raised the problem in Parliament once the SC — on April twenty eight — stricken down her government’s call to produce quota in promotions in province.
During the previous all-party meeting – on August twenty one – Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had given Associate in Nursing assurance that his government would supply a “legally sustainable” answer for the restoration of quota in promotions.
