Biography: Rainer Maria Woelki is a German theologian, a cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church, and, since 2014, Archbishop of Cologne and Metropolitan of the associated ecclesiastical province. In connection with the investigation of cases of sexual abuse in the Archdiocese of Cologne, a crisis of confidence arose in the archdiocese after 2018 as a result of mistakes made by Woelki.
