Biography:
Ítalo Augusto del Valle Alliegro (September 8, 1939, Guatire, Miranda State, Venezuela) is a Venezuelan military officer. He was a General in the Venezuelan Army, reaching the rank of Division General. He served as Commander of the Army during the military crisis with Colombia in 1988, in the so-called Caldas corvette crisis of the Colombian Navy in the waters of the Gulf of Venezuela. He later served as Minister of Defense under the governments of Presidents Jaime Lusinchi and Carlos Andrés Pérez, during which the series of protests and riots known as El Caracazo took place.
