Melhik, an immigrant from Ethiopia, started his journey as a filmmaker in high school, where he found his passion for cinematography. Since then, Melhik has produced several award-winning short films and documentaries. He also has multiple feature films, music videos, and commercials under his belt. He has worked on several projects for companies like Google, Adobe, Pixar, ESPN, Youtube, Disney, Lucas Films, Sony, etc. Melhik was a Director of Photography for Strong Hawk: My Sister’s Keeper. Working closely with director Ramasses Head and writer Damon Hart, they made a magnificent action film filled with amazing stunts and heartwarming story about family. “It was a great honor to work with so many talented people. From having an almost all black cast and crew to shooting an empowering story of 3 black sisters, it was a whirlwind of excitement and motivation. Knowing that we are going against traditional hollywood norms and making a very oakland centered film was a breath of fresh air. And most of all, we made a kick ass action movie!”
