  • Anup Jalota is known mainly for singing devotional songs and has been a name long associated with piousness in the music industry. He is popularly known as the "Bhajan Samraat" .
  • Early Life :- Anup Jalota was born in Nainital, Uttarakhand , India.He hails from the Sham Chowrasi Gharana of Punjab. He was educated in Lucknow's Bhatkhande Music Institute. His father, Purshottam Das Jalota, was also a prominent Bhajan singer. in classical music from his father Purshottam Das Jalota and Bhatkhande Vidyalaya in Lucknow. He has two younger brothers:- Anil Jalota & Ajay Jalota and two sisters, Anjali Dhir and Anita Mehra. He was a good batsman during his college days.
  • Career :- Anup Jalota started his musical career as a singer with legendary Late Kishore Kumar at stage shows and was often referred as Junior Kishore .After struggling in Mumbai, he initially got a job as a chorus singer in the All India Radio .He got his big break at the time when Manoj Kumar recorded four songs with him for the film Shirdi Ke Sai Baba, which later went on to become a huge hit. Apart from being a great singer, Anup has also produced two Hindi films, Hum Deewane Pyar Ke (2001) and Nishaan: The Target (2005). Anup Jalota has performed in more than 5000 live concerts throughout the world. In 2015, he played the role of famous spiritual guru Satya Sai Baba in the film Satya Sai Baba but the movie never got released. Some of his popular bhajans include Aisi Lagi Lagan, Main Nahi Makhan Khayo, Rang De Chunariya, Jag Me Sundar Hai Do Naam, and Chadariya Jhini Re Jhini.
  • Throughout his successful musical career, Anup Jalota has received many awards and adulation such as Padma Shri Award , Manav Ratna Award etc.He has his name in The Guinness Book of World Records for the highest number of platinum discs in history.
  • Personal Life :- Jalota's first marriage, without his family's approval, was to a Gujarati girl, Sonali Sheth, then a music student and later a singer. The couple became popular in the concert circuit as "Anup and Sonali Jalota". His second marriage was an arranged one to Bina Bhatia, but that soon ended in divorce, too. Anup's third marriage was to Medha Gujral, niece of former Indian Prime Minister I. K. Gujral and director Shekhar Kapur's first wife whom he had divorced in 1994. Anup and Medha have a son named Aryaman (born in 1996), who studied at Princeton University.[5] Medha Jalota died on 25 November 2014 at a hospital in New York City of liver failure following a second heart and first kidney transplant. As of 2018, he has been in a relationship with Bigg Boss 12 contestant Jasleen Matharu, who is 37 years younger than him, for the past 3 and a half years.
