Biography: Ludo De Witte (born 1956) is a Belgian sociologist and political activist renowned for his groundbreaking work on post-colonial Central African history and eco-socialism. He gained international recognition with his 1999 book De moord op Lumumba (The Assassination of Lumumba – the book is translated into English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Arabic). In this work he exposes the Belgian government’s involvement in the murder of Patrice Lumumba, the first Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo. His research led to a parliamentary inquiry in Belgium, marking a significant moment in the country’s reckoning with its colonial past.
